LISTENING FOR GOD'S VOICE

[Of Special Interest to Children]

Norma liked to go to the Christian Science Sunday School. She had been attending ever since she was very little. She loved to hear the stories the teacher read from the Bible. Then the teacher would read from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and the class would talk about the spiritual meaning of the Bible stories. They saw that Science and Health is the key which unlocks the meaning of the Scriptures.

Norma knew that with the spiritual understanding of the Scriptures sin and sickness could be healed in just the same way Jesus healed them. One of her favorite stories from the Bible was that of the child Samuel, who heard the voice of God calling to him.

The teacher had read them the beautiful story, beginning (I Sam. 3:1), "The child Samuel ministered unto the Lord before Eli." Then she had explained that another word for ministered is served. And all the children in the class knew that the way to serve God was to keep their thinking free from error and close to Him.
