ANSWERED PRAYER

Helen Lacy Veatch Sutherland

No earnest prayer sent forth on wings
Of hope and faith that all may prove
Can go unanswered, for it sings
Of gratitude and unselfed love.

No loving father will deny
His children worthy of all good,
But shares with them from his supply,
Rejoicing in such amplitude.

With grateful hearts, then, let us know
Our Father is at hand to bless.
We need not pray that He bestow—
But strive to prove our worthiness.
