"LOVE'S DIVINE ADVENTURE"

"We live in an age of Love's divine adventure to be All-in-all." These beautiful, joyous words were written by Mary Baker Eddy to the members of a branch church on the occasion of the laying of the cornerstone of their church (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 158). To one student of Christian Science they stood out indelibly on a day when joy and inspiration seemed lost, and she was led to read them in a quiet hour of turning to God.

When she was a child, the word adventure had always called up happy anticipation of new discoveries and unexpected joys in a world which is full of adventure to the child thought. So this day the three words "Love's divine adventure" lifted her thought to see that personal, human joys may be fleeting, but that Love divine never fails when we put each day in the tender care of God, who is Love, and let it be God's day.

Through the courage and faith of Mrs. Eddy, Christian Science was given to this age to enable us to prove, as she did, that the spirit of Love is truly the way out of failure and disappointment into the promised land of fulfillment. Although our Leader suffered many vicissitudes, she lost neither her faith in God as the supreme power nor her love for her fellow men. Her glorious victories and achievements are a beacon to all those who are endeavoring to follow in her footsteps. She knew that it was the Christly love manifested by Jesus which enable him to say, even as they nailed him to the cross (Luke 23:34), "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do."
