Christian Science Sunday School training has been a great blessing to me. At an early age, even though not understanding why, I realized that a call to a Christian Science practitioner resulted in healing in time of sickness. In my teens I experienced physical healings as the result of consciously applying the truths that were studied in the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly and explained at Sunday School.

The first occasion of this nature was on a day I was to take part in a school entertainment. Upon arising in the morning I found my left eye to be inflamed and ugly with an incipient sty. I thought, This is not from God and cannot interfere with what I have to do today. Before leaving for my classes I studied the current lesson, seeking prayerfully to fill my thoughts with the consciousness of man's perfection as God's image and likeness. I closed the books and said in quiet confidence, "There, that is taken care of."

It did not occur to me to examine the eye at any time through the day. I was aware of no discomfort and actually forgot about the condition. A few minutes before curtain time I rested my head in my hand while going over my lines. A finger brushed the eye, and I recalled the need of the morning. Instantly my thought was flooded with the grateful recognition that the sty had been completely healed.
