For over twenty years Christian Science has been the only physician for our family of four, and its healing power has never been found wanting. I hope that this testimony will help young mothers who are fearful, to understand that they can overcome their fears by clinging to the truths given to us by Mrs. Eddy in our textbook, Science and Health.

When our youngest daughter was about three years old, she manifested the symptoms of a mastoid condition in one ear. I called a practitioner and told her that the child seemed to be in much pain. She said that she would take up work for her at once, and she told me to study Mrs. Eddy's words (ibid., p. 463), "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive." The pain continued for about two days, at the end of which time the ear started to drain. In a very short time the whole condition cleared up, and the healing was permanent. I was especially grateful for the quickness of this healing.

At another time one of the children had a severe cold. She coughed a great deal, especially at night. One night she awakened about midnight and cried for some time. I went to her room, and finding her very uncomfortable, I became quite fearful. Closing her door, I got the textbook and went downstairs, where I could not hear her coughing. Then I opened the textbook to page 412, where Mrs. Eddy says: "The power of Christian Science and divine Love is omnipotent. It is indeed adequate to unclasp the hold and to destroy disease, sin, and death." I had read these lines before, but they had never stood out as clearly as they did at this time.

I reasoned that if what Mrs. Eddy said was true—that "the power of Christian Science and divine Love is omnipotent"—and I was sure it was, then there could be no effect from any other so-called power. That divine Love, our ever-loving Father-Mother, never sentences any of His children to suffer was clear to me. After a few minutes of quiet thinking along these lines, I went back to the child's room and found her quietly sleeping. That was the end of the cold.

Words can never express my gratitude to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, whose unselfed love makes it possible for people all over the world to experience freedom from fear and from suffering of all kinds.
