Signs of the Times

"God hath not given us the spirit of fear." It is a great thing to be quite sure of that, to realize that the fears which cramp and harass us have no authority in God. They are not supported by final reality, but belong to the realm of human weakness and can therefore be overcome.

Wherever you find fear, therefore, operating in your life, say to yourself at once: "This is not of God: it is not, therefore, for me, a child of God, to entertain it any longer. My only fear is lest I distrust Him." ... Similarly, the grim shadows that overhang our lives are in the main reflections of our tired, self-centered selves. "God hath not given us the spirit of fear." Therefore, in His name, bid craven fears begone, and they will go!
