I attended the Christian Science Sunday School from the time I was four years old until I was twenty. There I gained a knowledge of the truth, through which one is able to master every situation in life. I am deeply grateful when I recall the many healings and experiences which I have had. One of these healings particularly I should like to relate here.

During some rough play in school I broke a windowpane and cut my hand on the broken glass. In order to conform to insurance regulations a doctor was called. It was found that the tendon of my middle finger was cut through, and I was told that I would have to be operated on so that the tendon could be sewed together. I turned my thoughts in the right direction, knowing that God and His idea are forever unharmed. At the same time I asked a practitioner for help.

The operation was postponed several times, plainly as a result of the prayerful work that was being done. It was finally scheduled, however, and I was placed on the operating table. Just as the anesthetic was to be administered, the doctor took my hand to look at it once more. He made a gesture of astonishment and said, "The tendon is no longer severed!" The operation was canceled, and before long the finger regained its normal usefulness. This healing was the work of the truth which had steadfastly been declared.
