It is with deep gratitude for all that Christian Science has given me that I offer this testimony as a positive evidence of its healing efficacy. To be able to follow the example of Christ Jesus through the teachings of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, is a priceless privilege.

A healing through mental surgery which came by my relying wholly upon God has been a steppingstone that has helped me in working out other problems. For many years there had been a morbid growth on the side of my head. It had been rather dormant, and I had denied its presence only spasmodically. Finally it began to enlarge, and it became so painful that it was difficult for me to wear a hat or to sleep on that side.

When I started to work specifically in Christian Science, I recalled that the year the growth appeared I had felt that a friend was very unfair in a business deal. In my desire to purify my thinking and obey God I used Mrs. Eddy's statement in Science and Health (p. 242): "Self-love is more opaque than a solid body. In patient obedience to a patient God, let us labor to dissolve with the universal solvent of Love the adamant of error,—self-will, self-justification, and self-love,—which wars against spirituality and is the law of sin and death."

I obediently began to bear witness to God's child as He created him, fair, honest, just, and pure. I denied the arguments of a false sense of self and affirmed that the purity and love which were mine through my expressing the qualities of God would dissolve and destroy the mesmerism of smugness and self-justification.

Hairdressers and others had said that I should have an operation to have the growth removed. Instead, I tried to learn all I could of the operation of God's law, using the Bible statement (Hebr. 4:12), "The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." In a very short time the growth opened and drained, leaving no evidence of an abnormal spot. The spiritual regeneration of pure thinking and loving brought great joy.

I am most grateful for the spiritual growth that is ours in obeying God's law and in acknowledging the power of His Word. All the benefits of protection, enriching experiences, home, family, supply, joy, and love I have known, I owe to Christian Science. The privilege of class instruction has been a real blessing. Besides being grateful for my own experiences I rejoice that the world is blessed with the revelation of Christian Science, the divine Comforter.—(Mrs.) Margaret C. Stevens, Shaker Heights, Ohio.
