In my early teens I was invited...
In my early teens I was invited to a Christian Science lecture. After attending it I knew that Science was the religion for me. Enrollment in the Sunday School was of great help to me in my development, and my gratitude for that early training can never be expressed in words: it must be lived. Membership in The Mother Church and a branch church and class instruction were logical and joyful steps that followed. Through church membership I met my husband, and today our three children are enjoying the opportunities of the Sunday School and the freedom Christian Science gives from sickness and inharmony of all kinds.
Daily study and application of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly has indeed showed me how near God is and how He cares for us when we turn to Him for help and guidance. So-called children's diseases have been quickly healed, unpleasant traits of character have been overcome, and lack and unhappiness have given place to God's abundant supply and the knowledge that God truly governs. Through the consecrated study of the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy I have been able to fill positions for which I had no training.
Our children use the Bible Lessons in their schoolwork and daily activities. One morning our twelve-year-old daughter awoke with an extremely high fever. She was listless and unable to eat. We had planned a week-end automobile trip with some friends who were Christian Scientists, and after much prayerful thought we decided to go ahead with the trip, taking our daughter along. On the road we read the lesson aloud, and when we arrived at our destination, she went to bed and slept for several hours. I knew that this physical condition was not of Mind, God, and that man, as His reflection, could not have anything unlike God. When our child awakened, she was free. Her body was cool and normal, and she ate and enjoyed her dinner.
