I am very grateful to our Father-Mother God for Christian Science, as well as for Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, and for Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. Like many others I was under the impression that my happiness depended upon human companionship, and I felt that nothing else mattered. Suddenly, however, my little world of mortal planning fell apart, and as the religion which I had been brought up in did not give me any consolation. I drifted aimlessly.

Someone saw the situation I was in and invited me to attend a Wednesday evening testimony meeting in a Church of Christ, Scientist. After that I kept going to the meetings regularly to hear the lovely testimonies and the readings from the desk. I received much benefit therefrom, even though I did not fully understand what was being spoken.

It all seemed hazy, but I kept clinging to statements of truth, and gradually the light became clearer to me, and I felt that at last I was on the right path. I was especially impressed with the ushers of the church, who extended a loving, joyful welcome each week. My attendance, however, was mainly to hear the helpful testimonies, which were given with such confidence and which told of healings through reliance on God alone. I pondered them constantly and always left the church feeling that I had gained something more valuable than gold. These testimonies were a great consolation to me in the very trying experience which I was then going through.
