I experienced an instantaneous...
I experienced an instantaneous healing of pulmonary tuberculosis in Christian Science after all efforts of medical science had failed and after my mother and two sisters had passed on from this disease. Following one visit from the Christian Science practitioner whose testimony appears on pages 669 and 670 of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I never had another hemorrhage. As the practitioner unfolded the teachings of Christian Science to me I became so convinced of their truth that I determined I would endeavor to attest the letter and the spirit of them.
This endeavor called for gratitude, which is the acknowledgment and recognition of the unfailing goodness of God. So I began to write in crayon what I was grateful for, and the nurse tacked up the slips of paper on the walls of my room as fast as I wrote them. The next day my three nurses were dismissed, and I arose and traveled more than ten miles on a cable car to the Christian Science church, where I testified to the power of God to deliver man from disease and death. My gratitude for my healing was unbounded.
In early manhood I suffered a compound abdominal rupture, for which I wore a truss for ten years. One day I recalled these words, recorded in Luke (4:23): "Physician, heal thyself." I decided to commune with our Father-Mother until the condition was mastered. It was an inspiring experience, and the next morning I realized that I was healed. This healing of forty years ago has proved complete and permanent.
