GOING TO BOSTON
[Of Special Interest to Young People]
Christian Science teaches us to go to our Father-Mother God to ask for guidance in our every desire. How grand it is to see the unfoldment of these desires as we trust them implicitly to God! His wisdom and intelligence are ever demonstrable in showing us the way to progress and unfoldment.
Anne, who lived in Europe, had a great desire to go to Boston, Masachusetts, to see The Mother Church, The Christian Science Publishing Society, the home in Chestnut Hill where Mary Baker Eddy lived during the later years of her career, the Sanatorium of the Christian Science Benevolent Association in Chestnut Hill, and many historical places important to the growth of Christian Science. At the Annual Meeting, which is held early in June, Christian Scientists come thousands of miles to hear the reports of the growth and progress of The Mother Church. Many of these members have to conquer difficulties, including suggestions of lack, but through the understanding of God as the all-loving Father and through willingness to follow His guidance and to let His will be done they overcome the arguments of limitation. Just to sit in our beloved Mother Church during a service, just to hear the joyous voices taking part in the singing, just to hear the many reports of healing, is enough to give each and every one great inspiration joyously to prove and practice Christian Science.
In the Bible we read (Ps. 24:1), "The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof." This means that the universe, including man, belongs to God, our loving Father. And Christian Science teaches that man, by reflection, includes God's universe of ideas. In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy says of man (p. 475), "He is the compound idea of God, including all right ideas." Hence man does not have to demonstrate anything, but, already possessing everything, he has only to enjoy his divine inheritance. It is the human being who must prove these spiritual truths.
