I am very grateful for Christian Science and have had many demonstrations of its healing power, some of them being instantaneous. At the age of thirteen I began to attend the Christian Science Sunday School, for which I am grateful. Its teachings have been an ever-present help in time of need.

During the Second World War I was employed to operate a drill press in a machine shop. I very foolishly placed my finger under a tap while the drill press was being adjusted. It accidentally fell, and the tap went through my finger. I pulled it out and walked to the waiting room, where I repeated "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 468).

The company rules required me to report to the hospital, and I repeated "the scientific statement of being" on the way. The result was that the doctor could hardly see the place where the tap had gone through my finger. I never had a bit of soreness, and in a day or two not even a mark remained. For this I am very grateful.
