Christian Science came to me...

Christian Science came to me through my husband's interest in it. When we were engaged to be married he asked me to take up the study of this Science, saying that it was the way of true and lasting happiness. How true his words have proved! I took up the study as requested and have never regretted doing so.

I have had many healings, but I am most grateful for one in connection with my sight. From the time I was a very small child I had worn glasses because of eye ulcers, which at times became so severe that I suffered temporary blindness. Over three years ago I broke my glasses, and when I took them to be repaired I was told I should have to wait six weeks. I did not know how I was going to manage without them, but on the way home I knew that the time had come for me to demonstrate what I had been learning of Christian Science. I telephoned a practitioner for help, which was lovingly given. She told me to rejoice and thank God that I was free from material encumbrances. When I realized that that was all the glasses were, I experienced a great sense of freedom.

I studied the definition of eyes as given on page 586 in the Glossary of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and my consciousness became more spiritual. I knew that there was no intelligence in pieces of glass put before my eyes and that I must learn to discern spiritually and know that Mind is the only intelligence. I was also helped by studying the Bible verse (Eccl. 3:14), "Whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him." Within a few weeks I was healed.
