WHAT KIND OF WORLD MAY WE HAVE?

With increasing frequency businessmen, educators, and statesmen are emphasizing the world's need for vital religious practice. Recently, for example, one of America's leading advertising executives said in substance that if materialism is to be defeated, it must be on religious principles.

What does Christian Science contribute to humanity's practical use of religious fundamentals? It points out that the teachings of Jesus are scientific. That is, they rest on spiritual law, which operates eternally, and so they can be demonstrated at any time by anyone who understands God's law and utilizes it. It should not be doubted that the law of God is wholly beneficent, wholly good. Yet the centuries tell a story of widespread fear of God, indicating the need for more general awakening to His goodness and love. Christ Jesus' many proofs that God is Love instituted a revolution in human thinking which has achieved and is still achieving marvelous results. These will continually increase as mankind learns to surrender all of fear's reactionary claims.

Through acquaintance with Mary Baker Eddy's great textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," many have been roused to relinquish fear-begetting misconceptions of God. They have found this textbook logical in its insistence that the infinite creator of the universe is infinitely and omnipotently good. Learning to reason from, this premise, they have had convincing evidence that God's law of good is universally at work, governing everything that exists in actual being.
