A LADDER FROM HEAVEN

[Of Special Interest to Young People]

I Always remember with gratitude the time when I was first led to study faithfully the entire Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly each day.

I was attending a university and during this time had become actively interested in Christian Science. At first I allotted myself sufficient time each morning to study one section of the Lesson. But I soon found that this was not enough. Not knowing what else to do, I carefully read our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, during open periods in the day and always in the evening before retiring. And yet I did not feel that I was gaining firm enough hold on Christian Science.

One day a member of a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, told me that the division of the Lesson-Sermon into six sections did not necessarily mean that there was one section for each day in the week, but that the six sections served to focus thought upon varied unfoldment of the subject, and that taken together they made up a complete whole. I saw immediately the wisdom of this method of study, and after many years of strict devotion to studying the whole Lesson-Sermon daily I can say with deep gratitude that our impersonal and divinely inspired Quarterly Bible Lessons have been a measureless blessing.
