BUILDING FOR ETERNITY

Church building in Christian Science is fundamentally a spiritual activity, inseparable from Christ-healing. It helps to rouse human thought from the mortal dream of life in matter to the apprehension and demonstration of limitless life in Spirit. It brings to bear upon human affections and relationships the impelling influence of divine Principle, Love, purifying, broadening, and elevating them.

Gaining the spiritual sense of Church precedes successful building. Since infinite Mind, or Spirit, includes all reality, the real Church must be wholly spiritual. This divinely mental Church of God's creating, unencumbered by materiality or personality and unfettered by state laws or control, is the Church Universal and Triumphant, which was glimpsed in the pure and genuine Christianity established by Christ Jesus and reinstated in this age by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.

Mrs. Eddy gives in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," the spiritual definition of "Church," which reads (p. 583), "The structure of Truth and Love; whatever rests upon and proceeds from divine Principle."
