Christian Science was lovingly...

Christian Science was lovingly presented to me by a friend more than fifteen years ago when I was in great need of help for a nervous complaint known as claustrophobia, a distressing fear of being in closed rooms.

When I asked for help in Christian Science it was lovingly given, and the practitioner encouraged me to visit the local Reading Room. She told me to look upon this room as an ark where I could find peace and quiet. She said that the word "Silence" printed on the wall could be taken to mean in part that the material sense of things was to be silenced in that room. At the first few visits I found I could stay only for a short time, often only long enough for an encouraging talk with the librarian. Slowly, through the love and understanding I found expressed by the workers there, as well as through the work of the practitioner, my confidence increased until I had complete freedom, and the Reading Room indeed became my ark.

Numerous times I have gone there with problems regarding health or the home, and when I have obediently silenced the material senses through prayer and study or by just being aware of the atmosphere of love that was there I have left completely free and uplifted.
