In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures"...

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy writes (p. 174), "Whoever opens the way in Christian Science is a pilgrim and stranger, marking out the path for generations yet unborn." I am grateful that my mother was prompted to turn to Christian Science many years ago. As a result the way was opened for all the family to know of Christian Science, and there were many proofs of its healing efficacy.

The help I received through Christian Science when my two children were born has always been an inspiration to me. Both experiences were harmonious, and I was able to resume my normal duties in a very short time. At the time the second child was born I had the privilege of having a Christian Science nurse with me. When the little one would cry during the night the nurse would stand by the baby's basket and say quietly but firmly, "All is well." And certainly all was well, for the child would become quiet at once.

I am grateful for a lesson I had to learn in willingness to see my fellow man as God sees him. For some time I disliked even to see or to be with a certain individual. Finally, one day when it was necessary for me to be with this person, I first earnestly sought God's guidance about the situation. The thought came: What are you going forth to see today? Egotism, selfishness, self-will, or some other error? If so, you will see them.
