It is a deep sense of gratitude for...

It is a deep sense of gratitude for Christian Science that prompts me to give this testimony of healings which I have received through the study of its teachings. My first healing was of paralysis from the waist down. My mother, who lived in Chicago, asked me to try Christian Science, as she was confident it would help me. My sister and her husband took me to Chicago, where a loving practitioner was asked to work for me. I was willing to give up all material remedies for the Christ, Truth. The healing came in about two weeks.

The memory of how the healing took place is a wonderful one. I was reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy when this message came to me as though it were God's voice: Edith, get up and walk. I knew I was healed and got up and walked for the first time in six weeks. I can never be grateful enough for that healing and the blessings it brought into our family. My mother, sister, and brother-in-law all became interested in Christian Science as a result of it.

I have had many other healings, among them those of dizziness, headaches, and arthritis. One passage in Science and Health was especially helpful in the healing of the arthritis. It begins with this sentence (p. 243): "The clay cannot reply to the potter." I am grateful for the protection I have many times received by pondering the ninety-first Psalm and also by studying the healings that Jesus performed, such as the raising of Jairus' daughter and of Lazarus.
