DIVINE LOGIC

In "Miscellaneous Writings" Mary Baker Eddy asks the question (p. 360), "When shall earth be crowned with the true knowledge of Christ?" In other words, when shall we see the complete authority of Christ ruling in our affairs?

Previous to asking this question Mrs. Eddy draws a contrast between Paul and Jesus. She says, "Theirs were modes of mind cast in the moulds of Christian Science: Paul's, by the supremely natural transforming power of Truth; and the character of Jesus, by his original scientific sonship with God." No thoughtful Christian would place Paul and Jesus in the same category. Jesus possessed greater spirituality than his disciples; he lived continuously in his at-one-ment with God. His logic was divine logic, the unerring wisdom of God expressed in the unerring modes of divine Science.

There was sometimes a distinction between his reasoning and that of the disciples. For instance, when the storm rose on the Sea of Galilee the disciples were afraid. They reasoned from a material basis. Their logic was faulty on this occasion; they regarded the disturbance in a material light and feared it might mean their destruction. Jesus was not touched by the storm. He awakened them to the fact that the peace of true being is perpetual; his logic was divine, and consequently the storm was immediately stilled.
