I am very grateful for a healing I experienced through reliance on the truths I learned in Christian Science. A few months ago one of our small children was suffering from some condition that was accompanied by a very high fever. After studying and watching at her bedside all night with no rest, I experienced difficulty in focusing my eyes properly. The child had been healed, but mortal mind was endeavoring to penalize me.

I was on leave from the Navy and had only a few days remaining before my return to duty, which involved close work at a drawing board. A Christian Science Camp Welfare Worker was called, and he took up the work at once. He came for a visit, and during the conversation my lack of gratitude for Love's provision and protection was uncovered. The Worker pointed out that spiritual perception cannot be impaired and that good cannot bring suffering.

When the time came I returned to my duties and did not discuss or refer to the condition, which had grown worse until I could not focus my eyes anywhere but straight ahead and then no farther than about a foot or two. The impulse to report on sick call was strong and persistent, but I knew that the healing had to come through Christian Science.
