THE HARMONIES OF HEAVEN

Man , the image and likeness of God, is given everything he requires for his health and harmony. His well-being is maintained by divine Principle, Love, which created him. Harmony is heaven. Heavenly harmony is the kingdom in which the man of God dwells. It is not an abstract state or a far-off realm, but ever present, vibrant with life, and filled with spiritual intelligence. This is the natural habitat of man; it is his true dwelling place on earth as it is in heaven.

Heaven is a realm ruled by divine Principle, governed by spiritual laws. Its citizens may seem to be pilgrims on earth, but actually they are permanent residents of heaven. If one visits another country he need not lose citizenship in his own land. Jesus worked in the world, but he knew clearly throughout his earthly pilgrimage that his real individuality, his spiritual identity as the idea of God, never left heaven. A study of his statements concerning his relationship to God and heaven shows that, whereas he recognized earthly conditions and material environment and taught and worked among mortals, yet he never for a moment lost his consciousness of God's heavenly and harmonious kingdom.

He said (John 16:28), "I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father." In that sublime period of spiritual exaltation immediately preceding his arrest and crucifixion he said (John 17:11), "And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee." At this time, as at all times, he clung steadfastly to the Christ-idea, his spiritual individuality; and this steadfast adherence to the Christ brought Jesus through the shadow of death, and for a brief period he remained on earth to manifest even here on earth the truth concerning man and heaven.
