In deep gratitude for Christian Science...

In deep gratitude for Christian Science I should like to tell how the application of this truth has brought a genuine sense of joy, satisfaction, and peace into my life.

When I was a young girl my grandmother was brought to our home suffering from cancer of the stomach, and the verdict of several attending doctors was that she could not live more than three months. In her extremity she turned to Christian Science and was perfectly healed. She led a full and useful life for twenty-two years after the healing. I did not as a child realize the seriousness of her physical difficulty nor the magnitude of the physical healing, but this I did realize: whereas she had been a fearful, unhappy, and unloving person, she was completely changed to a happy and loving one, free from fear.

After I was married we went through many heartbreaking experiences in our home. At last someone very dear to me said, "Why don't you try Christian Science?" I immediately called on a practitioner, bought Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and started attending a Church of Christ, Scientist. Gradually fear was replaced with peace, and discord gave way to harmony. To give visible evidence of my love and gratitude for Christian Science I wanted to join a branch church, and as this desire was greater than the desire to smoke and drink, the indulgence in these habits was completely eliminated.
