For some time I have had the desire to express through the Christian Science periodicals my sincere gratitude to God for the good that has come to me through the study and application of the truths taught in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. My work as a prospector has taken me to the hills, where I have proved that this Science delivers us from trouble and protects us in trials.

I should like to relate two outstanding healings for which I am especially grateful. In both instances absent treatment was being given by a Christian Science practitioner. For many years I had suffered from a case of arthritis which doctors had pronounced incurable. One night when the pain seemed unbearable I read and reread the chapter on Prayer in the Christian Science textbook. Suddenly there dawned on my thought the realization of God's presence and power. The suffering ceased, and the healing was complete.

The other healing was that of an internal growth and brought the joyous recognition that "with God all things are possible" (Matt. 19:26). After having Christian Science treatment for some time, during which the growth did not yield, I knew that I would have to take a firmer stand with God and exchange my will for His. One night, as I endeavored to blend my thoughts with ever-present good, I found rest and sleep. After I awoke, the growth was passed without pain, and I was free from the discomfort that had bothered me for years.
