THE IMPORT OF THE "DAILY PRAYER"

The writings of Mary Baker Eddy may be compared to a beautiful tapestry through which there is woven a delicate thread of pure gold, typifying the enduring perfection of the spiritual creation, in which man is revealed in the likeness of God.

Through her unselfed love of God and humanity our revered Leader was able to give us certain specific rules to enable us to regain the true consciousness of our heavenly heritage. One such rule is implicit in Article VIII, Section 4, of the Manual of The Mother Church, which makes it the duty of every member to pray daily, "'Thy kingdom come;' let the reign of divine Truth, Life, and Love be established in me, and rule out of me all sin; and may Thy Word enrich the affections of all mankind, and govern them!"

Every activity of the Christian Science movement has a twofold purpose: the first, to point the way for the individual looking for the healing Christ and to feed and sustain him as he clings to his vision; and the second, to fulfill the promise that all men might know God "from the least of them unto the greatest of them" (Jer. 31:34).
