For many years I wore a special make of arch-support shoes because I suffered from foot trouble. After taking up the study of Christian Science I often thought I should do some specific work regarding this condition or ask a practitioner to do so. However, I did neither until I injured one of my feet so that the bone in the arch of the foot appeared to be broken. The pain was so severe that I found it hard to think clearly, but "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 468) came to me. I kept holding it in thought and pondering it until my fear was completely gone and the pain was greatly lessened.

I had no feeling of fear and did not call a practitioner, but set about to study, using the Concordance to the writings of Mrs. Eddy to find references to "man" and "feet." This was truly a joyous experience, for much truth unfolded. I had faith, and I expected to be healed. Several days later my husband and I heard a bone snap in my foot, but I still was unable to put my full weight on the foot or to rest it flat on the floor.

Every morning I rejoiced in the opportunity to study and prove the truth of God and man. Several days later, when I got out of bed in the morning, I was able to put my foot down freely, and I knew the whole problem had been met. Since then I have worn any type of shoe I wished with comfort.
