I wish to express my gratitude...

I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science and for what this wonderful religion stands for. Like many others, I did not at first understand its teachings, but I happened to witness the remarkable healing of a dear friend who had asthma in its worst form. At that time I took up the study of Christian Science because I had been suffering from stomach ulcers for over twenty-five years, and I felt positive that I too could be healed.

I tried to apply Christian Science as I understood it from the reading of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. When I felt that my understanding was not sufficient I turned to a practitioner, and, thanks to his help, I began to see the light and was completely healed in a very short time. I can now understand why we feel like shouting with joy from the housetops when we find ourselves suddenly unshackled from the fetters of illusionary, erroneous thoughts. Another healing, that of the smoking habit of over forty years' duration, occurred on my second visit to the practitioner, and I am still overjoyed at this demonstration of God's power, even though it took place more than two years ago.

Recently I was asked if I had ever given a testimony, and I replied in the negative. My attention was very gently called to the following passage on page 372 of the textbook, which reads: "In Christian Science, a denial of Truth is fatal, while a just acknowledgment of Truth and of what it has done for us is an effectual help." I am indeed very grateful to God for Christian Science, for the practitioners and their willingness to help mankind replace erroneous beliefs with spiritual ideas, for the churches and their services, for the periodicals, and for Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.—Albert S. Herbert, Los Angeles, California.
