HOW ARE YOU SCANNING "THE CONVULSIONS OF MORTAL MIND"?

Our great Exemplar, Christ Jesus, correctly scanned mortal mind when he said (John 16: 33), "In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." In the light of Christian Science he virtually said: In the worldly, material concept of life you will have adversity, anxiety, and distress, because it is based upon a false sense of life, substance, and mind. Only by overcoming this worldly sense and by first seeking the kingdom of God and His righteousness will you be able to lift yourself above the mesmerism of the world.

This inspiring message of the Master's was deeply appreciated by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, and she understandingly wrote of Jesus in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 201): "Even the crown of thorns, which mocked the bleeding brow of our blessed Lord, was over-crowned with a diadem of duties done. So let us meekly meet, mercifully forgive, wisely ponder, and lovingly scan the convulsions of mortal mind, that its sudden sallies may help us, not to a start, but to a tenure of unprecarious joy. Rich hope have I in him who says in His heart:—
