WITNESSING FOR GOD

It is stated in the Scriptures that John Baptist was sent "to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe" (John 1:7). That Light was the Christ, which Jesus fully demonstrated.

To Pilate's question (John 18:37), "Art thou a king then?" Jesus replied: "Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth." Christ Jesus bore witness to God by proving Life, Truth, and Love to be the only antidote for sin, disease, and death.

The Apostle James saw that if we are not alert to control our thought and speech we find ourselves accepting suggestions of evil and bearing witness to them. He said (3:5), "The tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things." It is "a fire, a world of iniquity: ... it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell."
