The understanding of Christian Science...
The understanding of Christian Science I had gained from regular study so upheld me when my mother passed on that I was not even tempted to grieve. Instead, there was a constant sense of God's presence and care for all concerned. Since then there has been such a wonderful certainty of my mother's ever-continuing life and activity that I have had no reason for sadness. I am also most happy to say that while I was looking after my mother daily strength was always present with which to carry on my many duties, including full responsibility for a business and the management of my mother's home and my own.
After my mother's passing I was faced with caring for my father, who was quite elderly and in need of daily personal care. During the next few years many difficulties frequently attached to advanced years were warded off by my turning to God in prayerful thinking. Although my father was not a student of Christian Science, he recognized its power to heal; he liked to have me read to him from Science and Health. Before long he found he was free from the smoking habit, which he had indulged in for over fifty years, and he had other healings as well. When he passed on it was without any period of illness, and again I was free from grief.
If Christian Science had never done any more for me than it did in these experiences alone, it would have been worth all my study of it. However, there has been a steady unfolding of much good. Truly, life has been made worth while for me, and every need is being met through my constant study and practice of this saving Science. Surely the same good awaits anyone who takes up its study, for, in the words of Peter (Acts 10:34), "God is no respecter of person."—(Mrs.) Priscilla Stenberg, Brookline, Massachusetts.
