About fourteen years ago a friend of mine who was very much interesting in Christian Science presented me with a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, with the following comment: "I hope that some day the reading of this book will benefit you as it has me." The book was taken home, casually inspected, laid aside, and put in the bookcase, where it remained undisturbed for several years.

When I had occasion to move about ten years ago, and again seven years ago, the book was also moved, although it remained unstudied. However, I was prompted to retain it, as I realized the gift was from one who had profited greatly from its message. The donor had advanced from a beginner in Christian Science, received class instruction, been appointed Reader, and become a practitioner, showing continuous spiritual growth through the years.

One morning after what an attending physician termed a heart attack, I called for my copy of Science and Health and read from it. While I absorbed as much as I could of the chapter on Prayer the thought flashed through my mind that here was the religion I had long sought, since other religions had never quite satisfied me.
