When my daughter was a junior...

When my daughter was a junior in high school, she developed headaches which became so intense that she sometimes had to be excused from her classes, although a school examination indicated that she was in good health and had perfect vision. At about the same time we received a notice from the dentist to whom she had gone for her semiannual visit stating that X rays showed that she had impacted wisdom teeth and they were pressing against the roots of the other teeth. The dentist said the impacted teeth should be removed immediately.

My daughter insisted that we try Christian Science and that I work for her. At first I felt incapable of handling such an undertaking, for I had been studying Christian Science only a short time. However, I agreed to help her. I worked carefully and prayerfully every day. making an intensive study of the words substance and intelligence; and I tried to see that God's ideas co-operate. I also declared each day that I could not be mesmerized by doubt or discouragement. The headaches disappeared entirely after a few weeks, and at the end of eighteen months the wisdom teeth began to appear. In that time the jaw had grown to make room for each tooth, and in another six months the healing was complete. This proof of the utility of Christian Science brought great joy to us.
