"To those leaning on the sustaining...
"To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, Pref., p. vii). The truth of these words has been a constant help to me since my acceptance of Christian Science in 1936. When Christian Science was introduced to me, I was suffering from pneumonia, a heart condition, and a nervous breakdown. A practitioner was called, and I was completely healed in three absent treatments. There was no convalescent period. I had been a registered nurse, and this experience made me realize that I had found in Christian Science what I had been seeking for a long time; and I began its earnest study and application.
Later I found that it was not necessary for me to wear eyeglasses any longer. My eyes have not bothered me since. This healing was brought about through the study of Mrs. Eddy's definition of "eyes" in the Glossary of Science and Health, which reads in part (p. 586), "Eyes. Spiritual discernment,— not material but mental." I have been healed of periodic colds, also of burns, headaches, constipation, fear of being alone, belief in the reality of death, and many other problems. With the loving help of a Christian Science practitioner I had an instantaneous healing of hemorrhoids.
Unlovely traits of character and inharmonious conditions have gradually vanished through my clearer understanding of God as omnipresent good, or Mind. For these and many other healing experiences which have come to me and mine. I am truly grateful. I am also grateful for class instruction and for all the activities of our movement.— (Mrs.) Lucille W. Thompson, Los Angeles, California.
