It is with much gratitude to God...
It is with much gratitude to God, as well as to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, that I give this testimony of the healing power of Christian Science. It was in the fall of 1913 that I experienced my first healing in Christian Science. I had been suffering for some time from neuralgia, and after spending many sleepless nights I was very weary. My husband then asked me if I would consider Christian Science treatment. I consented, and treatment was given. In a very few minutes I was sound asleep, and that was the end of that particular complaint. The healing has been permanent.
I have been healed of many fears and of other physical ills, including laryngitis and bronchitis, which occurred annually, anemia, nervousness, heart trouble, and melancholia. These ills faded away through the help of a member of my family and my reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. During these years I knew only two other persons interested in Christian Science, for we lived in a small prairie town far from a Christian Science church.
Shortly after moving to the coast in 1924, I had another outstanding healing. I awakened one morning with a severe abdominal pain. As I was not able to think for myself and I appeared to be in an alarming condition, my husband called a Christian Science practitioner, who came quickly. I shall always appreciate her serene and loving manner when she declared the truth audibly and with great conviction. After silent work she left, assuring both my husband and me that all was well. During the day there was great improvement, and I was able to think of some of the truths that the practitioner had asked me to consider. In the evening I gained that "peace of God, which passeth all understanding" (Phil. 4:7). I slept normally that night and was able to be active from then on.
