BACK FROM CHURCH?

We hear the benediction's onward blessing,
We hear the organ's postlude majesty,
And out into more confident expressing
We feel God's power unfolding, making free.
Now friends' familiar faces shine as new
And now newcomers stand as if long known.
For Truth's victorious focus pierces through
To where one seamless brotherhood is shown.

Not back from church, but forward in the knowing
Of that one universe which Church reveals.
Not back, but on and on till each churchgoing
With its recurring education heals
By honoring one Shepherd, who can hold,
In many-pastured range, a single fold.
