THE PRACTICE OF CHRISTIAN HEALING

As students of Christian Science, it is important that we think of ourselves as spiritual healers and realize that God sustains us in this healing work. Only thus can we truly witness to His abundant love. Mary Baker Eddy make clear that Love motivates the practice of Christian Science.

"In Science, divine Love alone governs man," declares our Leader in "A Rule for Motives and Acts" (Manual of The Mother Church, Art. VIII, Sect, 1). She goes on to say, "And a Christian Scientist reflects the sweet amenities of Love, in rebuking sin, in true brotherliness, charitableness, and forgiveness.” Obedience to this Rule is vital to the practice of Christian healing, for only through obedience to it can our practice be motivated by and make manifest that love which is the expression of divine Love, or God.

Divine Science requires of us not only strict obedience to "A Rule for Motives and Acts," but also active participation in the practice of Christian healing. There is no other way in which adequately to express our gratitude to God for all that He has done for us. And healing is natural to one who understands that man, as God's reflection, cannot refrain from reflecting Love.
