WITHIN MY HEART

Where a lone bright flower blows
Beside the white Sierra snows,
Here I have knelt to pray.
By the swift stream come to bless
The edge of some still wilderness,
Here I have knelt to pray.
Where the desert sand gleams white
Beneath the lull moon's showering light,
Here I have knelt to pray.
In brilliant day and shadowed night,
On ocean shore, on mountain height,
Here I have knelt to pray.

And I have found within my heart,
No matter where my path may lie.
The majesty of mountains, the tenderness of dawn,
The wide, free reaches of the glowing sky;
The sanctuary of the wilderness.
The wind's strength and the ocean's power,
The fresh coolness of the mountain stream,
The radiant beauty of a glowing flower.

All these I have found glorified, transformed by Spirit's art,
When I have knelt to pray within my heart.
