Christian Science found me in great distress, physically and mentally, pending a third major operation for an internal stomach condition. The operation was averted through the operation of the Christ, Truth, in my consciousness. When the light of Truth dawned, it fell like a benediction upon me. I began to see that God, good, is ever available for all. This removed any necessity for further self-imposed suffering.

With gratitude and spiritual hunger I made haste to purchase the Bible, Science and Health, and the Christian Science Quarterly, containing the weekly Lesson-Sermons. In proportion to my receptivity to Science my thinking changed and healing came.

One day while I was searching prayerfully, yearning to understand God better, my eyes rested on this definition from Science and Health (p. 140): "The Christian Science God is universal, eternal, divine Love, which changeth not and causeth no evil, disease, nor death." Many physical healings followed. Hay fever which I had had from childhood, fainting spells, seasickness, heart trouble which had given me much difficulty in breathing, and unlovely traits of character yielded and disappeared. These healings came about entirely through applying the truths contained in the textbook. Through trials and triumphs I gained enough understanding to make me want to know only the truth that makes free and to have it govern my thinking.
