LISTENING TO MIND

Can we hear God speaking to us today? Christian Science answers, "Yes, if we will but listen." In the Old Testament we read of the prophets hearing the voice of God, and Mary Baker Eddy tells us how she and a cousin heard God calling to her. Indeed, she tells us many times in her writings how she waited, listening for Mind's guidance, when establishing the Church of Christ, Scientist. She knew how to listen and how to obey.

In the tenth chapter of John's Gospel is Jesus' allegory of the good shepherd and the sheep. Here we read of the shepherd: "The sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers." God revealed Himself to Mrs. Eddy as Mind.

Mind is our Father-Mother God, and man and the universe are His perfect creation. Man made in Mind's image and likeness is the only man there is, the forever satisfied, complete expression of divine Mind; and as we know the unity of Mind and its idea, we progressively see its manifestation in our experience in true intelligence, order, love, beauty, satisfaction. We also become aware of the impartations of the divine Mind and know not the voice of strangers.
