Christian Science was presented to me while I was of Sunday School age. With the help of practitioners I received many outstanding healings, such as the healing of nervous breakdown, blood poisoning, colds, headaches, a broken ankle, and many other false suggestions of the carnal mind.

It was over three years ago, while I was employed as a Christian Science nurse in an eastern city some distance from my home, that I felt a severe pain in my right leg and shortly found myself helpless. A practitioner was asked for treatment, and arrangements were made for me to be taken to my sister's home, where I spent the next seven weeks. The condition was not improved, so I was taken to a Christian Science nursing home in the southern part of the state. That was the first time I had slept in relaxation and peace since before the attack.

The pain was severe during this experience, and the suggestion of death came to me a number of times, but through the consecrated work of the Christian Science practitioners and nurses, also the love that was expressed in my sister's home and in the Christian Science nursing home, I was aroused out of this dream. In the Christian Science textbook Mary Baker Eddy states Science and Health, p. 296): "Progress is born of experience. It is the ripening of mortal man, through which the mortal is dropped for the immortal."
