My first healing in Christian Science...

My first healing in Christian Science took place over twenty years ago. Every winter I would have pneumonia, which would leave me with a bronchial cough all winter long. It seemed that we had tried everything that medical science could offer, and one night when the condition seemed very critical, my mother and I decided to give up medicine completely and turn wholeheartedly to Christian Science. We had just begun the study of this Science, and we saw very clearly that we would have to take a radical stand for Truth and not try to mix the two. We telephoned a practitioner, and she told us to study and ponder over the ninety-first Psalm and that she would help us. That night I had an instantaneous healing, and there has never been any return of pneumonia. I have never been tempted to use medicine in any form since that healing.

In working out the problem of companionship, I dwelt a great deal on these words of Mrs. Eddy's in "Retrospection and Introspection" (p. 76): "The spiritually minded meet on the stairs which lead up to spiritual love." Also, I knew that God brings His ideas together only for a holy purpose. It was not long before I was making numerous acquaintances of young people who were spiritually-minded, and it was during that time that a friend of mine, who had always been very loyal and faithful in a church in which all of his immediate family were charter members, became interested in Christian Science. I had offered him a copy of the textbook. Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, to study so that he might solve a problem of unemployment. As he studied, he became vitally interested, the problem of unemployment was solved, and a year from the day I handed him the textbook we were married, and we have both been active students of Christian Science ever since.

Christian Science has been a constant help and has met every need in guiding the footsteps of our little son and daughter. They both have had many proofs of the healing power of God, divine Love, in quick healings of so-called children's diseases. They both love the Christian Science Sunday School and are gaining a practical understanding of the truth through regular attendance.
