Christian Science has been my...

Christian Science has been my guide, inspiration, and comfort for over thirty years. My parents were members of a Protestant church, and regular attendance at Sunday School was required of my brothers and sisters and myself. However, my questions were not answered to my satisfaction by this form of religion, and after I married I no longer attended the church. This did not end my search for God, however, and occasionally I took my Bible from the trunk to read it, always closing it with a sense of disappointment, because parts of it seemed contradictory.

Through my mother-in-law, who was a Christian Science practitioner, I was gradually drawn to the reading of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly and to the literature. Her offers of help for myself and family were also accepted, albeit with mental reservations and small appreciation. But healings took place, and I was led to willingly discard all medicines, It was not until we had moved to another city that I began to study and apply Christian Science myself. Unemployment in my husband's experience was the first healing, and soon I experienced the healing of rheumatism.

At one time when our oldest son was less than six years of age, he was knocked down by an automobile and picked up unconscious. He was taken by the driver of the car to a nearby hospital, and I followed in another car, instructing my young daughter to call a practitioner and ask for treatment.
