THE UNIVERSE, INCLUDING MAN

As a spiritual idea, man inherits, possesses, and expresses all the qualities of God, Spirit, by reflection. He manifests infinite Love, power, and goodness. God's man cannot be separated from the divine Principle, Mind, which forms the perfect universe and perfect man.

Since Spirit is indestructible as cause, the universe and man — ideas of Spirit —are indestructible as effect. The infinite divine Principle, God, who sustains and perpetuates the universe, sustains and perpetuates man, progressively, intelligently, and harmoniously. Consequently, man is not remote from the universe, but rather is in unity with it and therefore included in it. Understanding this spiritual fact of creation and recognizing man as Mind's full representation, reflecting limitless, complete, and abundant Life, we become aware of the true status of man and the universe as God-governed, perfect, and immortal.

The spiritual universe of Love consists only of that which expresses God, good; therefore the universe, including man, Mind's infinite idea, God's expression, is ever active in the manifestation of the divine goodness, strength, and intelligence of Mind. In the opening paragraph of the platform of Christian Science, in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, we read this arresting statement (p. 330): "God is infinite, the only Life, substance, Spirit, or Soul, the only intelligence of the universe, including man."
