PROTECTION

God protects all that is good. The full support of divine Principle should be claimed for every honest thought and endeavor, because the impulsions of good originate in God and manifest His resistless will. Christian Science brings to humanity the rule by which God's protection of good is invariably assured. It shows that evil's claim to frustrate right activity cannot succeed when good is understood as one, as God, as indivisible Spirit expressed through its representative, spiritual, perfect man.

Good is never separate from God. For that reason one should never fear to do what is right. A pure motive, an unselfed act, a loving deed, a moral obligation fulfilled — all bear witness to the one Mind working in human consciousness, revealing the perfection of its own immutable creation. As light protects itself from darkness, so the nature of God, reflected by individuals, prevents the shadows of envy and prejudice, of sin, disaster, and sickness, from entering their experience. Hence protection is an individual demonstration and depends upon one's understanding of his real selfhood as Love's expression.

Mary Baker Eddy proved God's protection of good throughout her life. Her consciousness of good dominated her experience and nullified evil's efforts to obstruct her good works. She explains the scientific method by which she succeeded in her book "Unity of Good" (p. 7) : "An incontestable point in divine Science is, that because God is All, a realization of this fact dispels even the sense or consciousness of sin, and brings us nearer to God, bringing out the highest phenomena of the All-Mind."
