"Let the redeemed of the Lord say so" (Ps. 107:2). How the world would indeed be awakened to the realization of the power and beauty of Christian Science if all of us would be more outspoken in our praise and gratitude.

Our gratitude to God should be great when we consider the work of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. She knew what great difficulties were awaiting her, but such was her consecration that she went ahead, without any regrets or backward glances. She kept her thought upon the great reward—the spreading of the Christian Science gospel to all the world—and the troubles by the way became unreal to her. What a change the news of this gospel makes in the lives of all those who listen!

I was always a religious person and believed that God loved and protected me, but believed, in common with other orthodox Christians, that God permitted His children to encounter troubles in order that they might be tested and strengthened. However, Christian Science has taught me that it is not God who leads us into temptation.
