Recently I have been released from over eight years' service in the Army. This experience has represented, among other things, my birthplace, cradle, and school in Christian Science. Much of the period was spent in overseas stations, and I have been grateful throughout for a clear sense of God's protection.

I have also been grateful for healings, through Christian Science treatment, of dysentery, desert sores, physical exhaustion, a chill, toothache, and foot disease. The last-mentioned healing was realized with the help of a fellow Christian Scientist in the Army who was a volunteer Wartime Worker. The physical condition was quickly healed once I had been led to see that man is spiritual, not material.

I am grateful that I now know God to be the Father of man and man to be His image and likeness. I am grateful that I know Christian Science to be true. I am grateful for the unselfed examples set us by our Master, Christ Jesus, and our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.
