When I first attended a Christian Science testimony meeting about thirteen years ago, at the invitation of a friend, I had not worked for about twelve months, owing to chronic appendicitis. I had been operated on for an abscess in the appendix, which the doctor said "had been left too late." There were other complications, and altogether I was in hospital on this occasion for three months, and the abscess was merely drained. I was sent back to hospital a second time to have my appendix removed, but was so ill that the doctor refused to operate; and after being in bed another month I was sent home without anything further being done. The specialist told me that he did not think I would recover unless I did have my appendix removed, but because I had been so ill previously, he left the decision to me.

In a despairing state of mind, just a few days after attending the Christian Science church meeting, I went to a practitioner and was completely healed after two treatments.

When the hospital authorities sent for me to go back in hospital a third time, with the help of the Christian Science practitioner I refused to go, and I never had my appendix removed. Within a short time of this healing I was back at work and have been in continuous employment ever since. For this maintenance of health I am deeply grateful.
