LET US REJOICE
A Study of the Bible reveals that of the many commands given us by God, the one to rejoice is given at least as often as any other. May we not look upon this command as a reminder to claim our divine heritage of joy through the realization of our sonship and unity with God? Obedience to His commands guides us in the right application of His spiritual law, whereby we may increasingly enjoy the benefits bestowed on His perfect, spiritual, harmonious creation.
Christian Science teaches that joy does not result from some fortuitous material circumstance or depend upon any human being, for joy is inherent in man as the reflection of God. The qualities of God are expressed through man. So it is normal for him to express joy.
One who is obedient to the Scriptural command (Phil. 2:5), "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus," rejoices in the realization of divine reality. He understands, as did Christ Jesus, that there is but one creator, God, Spirit; that His creation, man and the universe, is spiritual; and that man eternally abides in the realm of Spirit, which abounds with goodness and love. Gaining this Mind which was in Christ Jesus is certainly cause for rejoicing.
