For the past sixteen years our family has witnessed the leavening and regenerating power of the Christ, Truth. During that time harmony, peace, joy, and inspiration have replaced discord, confusion, dreariness, and monotony. We have seen lack replaced by abundance, dispositions mellowed, and health and freedom established through the annulment of numerous material laws.

At the time I was serving as Second Reader in a branch church, the two following outstanding opportunities came to me to prove that, as Mary Baker Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 253), "Matter can make no opposition to right endeavors against sin or sickness, for matter is inert, mindless."

One Sunday morning I awakened to find that a head cold which had persisted for several days had increased to such a degree that it seemed impossible for me to be at my post of duty. A call to the practitioner gave me assurance of my dominion, and I went to the church. As the time for the service drew near, the condition appeared to become more aggravated, until I cried out to God in desperation. At once the realization came to me that all I had to do was to glorify God, and it could be done in spite of any material manifestation. Instantly the erroneous situation cleared, and I arose to go to the platform. On the way I glanced in the mirror and saw that my face, which had been swollen and inflamed, had resumed its natural state. I had been completely lifted out of the mist of false belief, and I felt that I had been standing on holy ground.
